During your first visit, we will start by going over a detailed medical and birth history (if applicable) and get a better understanding of your goals. We will then transition to an examination (including internal if desired) to get a better idea of your pelvic floor strength, endurance, coordination, and if you are holding tension anywhere. Following the internal assessment, we will examine your core & posture to get a better understanding of how your body is working together as a whole. We may also perform some manual therapy to give you some immediate relief depending on your symptoms. Before you leave, we will educate you on exactly what we found during the exam and what is causing your symptoms. You will leave with a few exercises to start practicing at home prior to your next appointment where we will dive deeper into your treatment.
No. Never. An internal assessment and subsequent treatment can be a very useful tool for us to confirm what we already have discovered in our discussion about your medical history and symptoms. It also can be very useful in confirming what you think you are telling your pelvic floor to do is what you are actually doing as we find many moms have difficulty coordinating contracting vs relaxing their pelvic floor.
You do not need a referral to schedule an initial evaluation and begin treatment. Depending on the services we believe will best support you, a referral or signed plan of care may be required going forward. If a referral is needed, our team will take care of contacting your provider to get the referral for you. If you need a referral and don’t have a provider, we are happy to connect you with one so there is no lapse in care.
We are out of network with all insurance companies. We are happy to provide you a SuperBill with diagnosis and treatment codes for you to submit to insurance for reimbursement. We cannot make any promises as to what your insurance will reimburse.
Staying out of network with insurance allows us to provide you with a higher quality of care without having to worry about the rules and restrictions insurance places on how we practice. We prefer to see patients one-on-one so our focus can be solely providing you with the high-level of care you deserve.
We never want childcare to be a barrier to your ability to heal. All of our clinics have toys & books available so your child can read or play during your session. Our clinicians are expert baby holders. No need to worry if your baby is fusing, we have real life exercise modifications that you can practice in a clinic to allow you to nurse or hold your baby during your exercises - and it's perfect practice for how you can fit your exercises into your day to day life at home.
You are always welcome to bring anyone with you that you feel comfortable discussing intimate details of your care in front of. Some women feel most comfortable with someone they trust present and others prefer to come alone. We are down for whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and supported.
You can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. That being said, you will be moving during your appointments - especially during treatment sessions so wearing athletic clothing typically works best. If an internal exam is warranted and you will be asked to undress from the waist down for a portion of your session. We also may ask you to tuck your shirt into your bra so we can watch how your abdominal region is responding to the exercises during your session.
If you are on your period there are still plenty of treatment options to provide you with a high quality session. Most of our clients do not receive internal every session anyways. That being said, being on your period is not a contraindication to an internal exam, so if you feel comfortable, we just proceed as normal.
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. We require a 24 hour notice for scheduling changes to avoid a $25 cancellation/late reschedule fee. Multiple last minute appointment changes will result in a $50 fee.
It varies per client depending on goals, finances, and availability. We will typically make our recommendation to start care (weekly or every other week) and then space out visits as you progress, but if our recommendation doesn’t fit into your needs we are happy to work with you to come up with a plan to serve you best.
